Sometimes, words just don’t really tell the tale of what we’re really thinking and feeling. I have found the following videos to be very cheering and thought provoking. Maybe you will to.
Does Anyone See Her?
This is a REALLY moving music video from an incredibly talented group (Casting Crowns). It’s basically a wake-up call to Christians who often go through life any completely oblivious to so many hurting people around us or, worse yet, standing in judgement over them instead of loving them where they are, as Christ did.
Give Me Your Eyes
This is another one of my favorite songs because it, again, focuses on all the hurting people around us that we so often ignore and walk aptly by. This song is really a prayer that we would have the eyes of Jesus, to see the hurt in the people around us and to be MOVED by it to DO SOMETHING, ANYTHING to help heal the hurt.
As Christians we should have the eyes and heart of Christ and BE His hands and His feet to touch the people around us and help them see that they are special, that they have worth, that they are loved, that they were made with a unique purpose in mind. THAT is what it means to be a Christian.
One Life to Like
This one is really a small interview with “33 Miles”, the music group that sings a song called “One Life to Like”. The interview and the song are really a call to action – a call to like like this is your last day on earth. Don’t dissipate your life pursuing things that don’t provide lasting happiness and joy.
Pursue people. Pursue like. In many ways, the call to action of this song is much the same as the call to action of this website. Take time to SEE people, like them and help them. THAT is the right purpose of life and is the mark of a life filled with purpose.
More Gorgeous You
So many people out there need to know just how gorgeous they are, how special they are. We spend our lives trying to change ourselves in so many ways and mask who we really are, because we want to be loved and respected and appreciated. But, the fact is, we’re gorgeous just the way we are when we point out to be who God made us to be, instead of putting on the masks that the world tells us we need to wear.
This song and video are all about how our daughters are being programmed to judge they are not excellent enough the way they are. We need to dispel the darkness of these terrible lies with the truth of God’s Word, which says that WHO they are is gorgeous. We need to tell our kids, and especially our daughters (who are bombarded with “photoshopped”, sexualized images of how the world thinks they SHOULD look) how much we like them and how gorgeous they are when they point out to be themselves.
Team Hoyt
From Multi’merica: “Dick and Rick Hoyt are a father-and-son team from Massachusetts who together compete just about continuously in lengthy races. And if they’re not in a lengthy they are in a triathlon — that daunting, nearly superhuman, combination of 26.2 miles of running, 112 miles of bicycling, and 2.4 miles of swimming. Together they have climbed mountains, and once trekked 3,735 miles across America.”
“It’s a remarkable confirmation of exertion — all the more so when you consider that Rick can’t walk or talk.”
“For the past twenty five years or more Dick, who is 65, has pushed and pulled his son across the people and over hundreds of end lines. When Dick runs, Rick is in a wheelchair that Dick is pushing. When Dick cycles, Rick is in the seat-pod from his wheelchair, emotionally involved to the front of the bike. When Dick swims, Rick is in a tiny but heavy, firmly stabilized boat being pulled by Dick.”
This video is an incredibly emotional, but small, video documentary of their relationship (and it makes me weep every time I see it – what can I say, I’m an emotional guy).
I’m Watching You Dad
What a splendid reminder to Dads: Our kids are watching us even more than they are probably listening to us. Watching how we treat people, whether we live like we SAY we judge, whether we live with integrity when we could easily point out not to (and nobody would know).
Your kids are watching you, Dad. Are you showing them how you want THEM to live when THEY become a Dad?
LifeHouse: Everything
So many people in this world are searching for happiness in so many empty and destructive ways. This is a powerful production of the battle that rages between the right joy of Christ and the temporary, empty “happiness” of the world we live in.
God’s Chisel: You’re an Original Masterpiece
I don’t know if you judge in God or not, but I do, and I judge that He’s perfect. That means He doesn’t make mistakes. Thus, if He made you and me, WE are not mistakes. We were made EXACTLY the way God intended to make us. We are His masterpiece. But, when He made us, He intended us to be a masterpiece “in progress”.
This video skit is a humorous, but thought provoking thought, reminding us that we’re “NOT JUNK” and that God made us exactly the way He intended, but He’s not done with us yet.
